2 Large Apples 1 tblspn. Butter 1 tspn. Grated Orange Rind 1 Teacup Strained Orange Juice 1/2 Teacup Brown Sugar | Halve the apples lengthwise without peeling them and remove the cores. Mix the orange rind with the juice and sugar and save a little of this mixture; put the rest into a shallow baking dish. Place the 4 apple halves, cut side up, in the dish and fill core cavities with the saved orange-sugar mixture. Dot with butter and bake in a moderate oven, basting now and then with the syrup. When the apples are tender, serve in the baking dish. |
