Halwa Dhal  
1 Cup Green Lentils  
1 -1/2 tblspn. Raisins  
4 Peeled Cardomons  
1 oz. Almonds Blanched  
1 Cup Milk  
1/2 Cup Oil or Butter  
1/4 tspn. Saffron  
1 Cup Sugar  
Pinch Salt
Soak the lentils overnight, and then grind them finely to a paste. Slice the almonds very finely and crush the cardmon seeds. Crush the saffron and soak in 1 tblspn. Water. Brown lentil paste in oil or butter, add sugar, raisins, or sultanas and milk, and simmer over a low heat. Add cardmons, almonds, saffron and simmer for 5 minutes and serve with a garnish of almonds.
