2 Cups Rice  
2 tspn. Salt  
1/2 tspn. Turmeric  
1 Cup Oil Dhal  
1 Stick Cinnamon  
2 Cardamons
Soak dhal in cold water for 1/2 hour, remove the skins, if any, and wash well. Wash rice three or four times in cold water. In three pints of boiling water add the salt, cinnamon and cardmons. Stir a little cold water into the turmeric and add to water. Add rice and dhal and boil rapidly until soft but not mushy. The water should be all absorbed when the dhal-rice is soft.
